Japanese City Now Using LoGo Blockchain App for Government Administration Purposes
Authorities in Kaga City, which is located in the Ishikawa Prefecture of Japan, are now using a blockchain-powered application called Local Government Form Electronic Application (LoGo) to run the city’s key administrative procedures, according to a press release on August 13, 2020. In a bid to make life easier for residents, while also simplifying the operations of the local government, authorities in Kagawa city have officially rolled out a distributed ledger technology application (DLT).
Named Local Government Form Electronic Application (LoGo), the blockchain-based app makes it possible for residents to carry out various administrative procedures right from their smartphone, anywhere they may be, provided they also have the xID app installed and a My Number card. It’s worth noting that LoGo has been in the works since May 2020, when Kaga City inked a partnership deal with Trust Bank and xID (formerly Blockhive), a startup focused on creating blockchain identity solutions, as part of larger plans to promote digitization and automation of its processes amid rapid population decline and aging.
