Crypto.com Community Up In Arms After Revisions To Staking Rewards

Crypto.com has significantly slashed its card rewards, driving the value of the CRO token down considerably as the community had a less than welcoming reaction to developments. The changes are set to go into effect from the 1st of June.

Digital currency trading platform, Crypto.com has tapped the services of Roeland Van der Stappen, a Brussels-based regulatory veteran as its new Vice President of Policy in charge of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.

On Monday, Crypto.com's Cronos (CRO) slide followed suit with a sharp drop after the crypto exchange said it was reducing some staking and rewards tied to its popular pre-paid Visa cards.  According to Tradingview.com, the coin dropped by 19% to $.265.

The Cronos (CRO/USD) price crashed to the lowest level since November 2021. The CRO token is trading at $0.2680, which is about 80% below the highest level in December last year. Its total market capitalization dropped to a low of $6.9 billion, which is substantially lower than its all-time high. Cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com drastically reduced the rewards it offers on its Visa cards, and also cut incentives for staking its native token, Cronos (CRO). In a blog post on Sunday, the exchange effectively removed spending rewards for some of its lower-tier cards, and also more than halved rewards for staking in CRO.
