Bitcoin Price Will Hit $50,000 In Under A Year, This Economist Says

Bitcoin price could see a boost amid a widespread financial crisis that has already led to the collapse of several banking giants and put many others at risk, according to Raoul Pal, Real Vision CEO and a former hedge fund manager.

While US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen claims the situation is stabilizing – not everyone in the banking sector is as certain.  Typically considered a mundane sector of finance and investing, US banks have tanked as everyone became aware of problematic balance sheets.

Bitcoin price is trading at more than $28,000 per coin and is up nearly 78% year-to-date in 2023. This could only be a mere glimpse of what's to come, which could ultimately be the biggest rally in crypto in several years – even beating the performance of the 2020 bull run.

On-chain data suggests Ethereum is in a better long-term growth position than Bitcoin and could thus see gains even after BTC's rally ends. According to technical analysts looking at the Bitcoin market on a short-term time horizon, the world's largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization looks like it could be on the verge of a breakout towards the psychologically important $30,000 level and perhaps on towards the next major resistance zone around $32,500-$33,000.

The BTC/USD is trading at 27,908, up by 2.50% in 24 hours. The US bank crisis fueled a weekend surge and Bitcoin momentarily reached $28,000 for the first time in nine months on Monday. However, the price dropped before the US Fed decided on interest rates.

On-chain data suggests the $28,700 mark, which Bitcoin has yet to hit since the LUNA collapse, could be the next major obstacle to clear for the asset.
